How can a mattress help with pain, injuries or mobility issues?

Suffering from any type of physical disability, injury or mobility issue means getting a good quality sleep can often seem impossible. Well, we are here to help you understand what types of mattresses can benefit you.

Many people suffer some type of back pain. How you prefer to sleep (back sleepers, stomach sleepers or side sleepers) can impact the type of mattress we would recommend for you.

Research has shown that sleeping on your stomach causes the most strain on your spine, so it might be beneficial to try to adjust your sleeping position, especially if you are already suffering back pain.

A medium/firmer mattress would be more suitable for back sleepers as it prevents the lower back from sinking too far into the mattress.

If you are a side sleeper, then you might prefer a softer/medium mattress, this will allow the hip and shoulder areas to sink slightly into the mattress keeping your spine properly aligned.

The above guide would also apply to those suffering from joint pain, in fact, this is our recommendation across the board as it really offers the body the optimal alignment of your spine and body for a comfortable and quality sleep.

Those suffering mobility issues could benefit from an adjustable bed. This allows you to control the height of the bed, allowing you to enter and exit the bed with more ease. If you spend a lot of time in bed, this would be ideal as you can adjust the bed into a sitting position, you can even raise the leg area offering a zero gravity effect alleviating pressure from your spine, joints and nerves.
