Rotating your mattress

Gone are the days you need to flip your mattress. In fact, most modern mattresses are designed with layered comfort with a pillow top and the mattress should not be flipped.

Modern mattresses still need to be rotated, and we recommend you do this every 3-6 months, depending on the mattress. This will protect your mattress from premature damage and extend the life of the mattress by evening out the wear and tear mattresses are subjected to. As most people sleep in the same spot on the mattress and even in the same position, over time this can wear the mattress unevenly and can impact the comfort and support you need to achieve a good quality sleep.

Rotating the mattress means you are turning it 180 degrees, so the head of the mattress moves to the foot while the surface of the mattress remains facing up.

If you do have a mattress that can be flipped, you can flip or rotate the mattress, we recommend doing this every 3 months.

You might benefit from scheduling the rotations on a calendar to make sure you don’t forget to rotate the mattress regularly, but also to help you plan it out. Some mattresses can be heavy, so you could require some assistance. You might need to move bedside tables to give you more room to move during the rotation.

Good habits with your mattress will save you money as you will not have to replace your mattress as frequently, and we all like saving money! If you are unsure about caring for your mattress, we can certainly help.
