Buying a new mattress can be a big investment, and it’s all about finding the right comfort for you. Trying the mattresses in store and finding the right fit and then finding that the mattress feels different at home can be a little frustrating.
A brand new mattress will typically feel firmer, in some cases, significantly firmer. Mattresses can be a lot like shoes in this way, brand new shoes can be a little uncomfortable. After wearing them in, they become much more comfortable. A mattress is similar in that sense, as you continue to sleep on your mattress the weight and pressure from your body will soften the top layer of foam, forming it more to your sleeping impression. The mattress in the store has been worn in already by the customers coming daily to try the mattress to see if it is the right comfort for them.
We recommend giving the mattress 2-4 weeks minimum to get that worn in feel that you would have experienced in store. In the meantime, if you find the mattress is much too firm to get a quality sleep, we have some mattress toppers that can make a huge difference to the overall comfort to get you through the ‘break in’ period.
